4th of July Fun

Independence day is celebrated all day long in the historical downtown. The festivities begin at 10 am with the annual parade through historic downtown. The parade features the American Originals Fife and Drum Corps as well as a contest for best float entry. Later in the evening visitors and community members can enjoy a live concert and fireworks in Ida Park. Each year several great bands fill the evening with music. Leesburg boasts the largest firework show in the area, with the fireworks arranged to patriotic music. Concert guests can also indulge in the full food court and bbq.

Leesburg Airshow

Featuring historic aircraft such as the P51 Mustangs, Grumman Avengers, and Japanese Bombers, the annual Leesburg Airshow is an aerobatic display full of thrills and excitement. In the past the show has featured pilots famous for their aerobatics, air force veterans, and the famous Flying Circus. The airshow is free to families, with a small donation requested. Besides the excitement in the skies, the tarmac features local vendors, including aviation clubs, and food and drinks. The airshow is held annually on the last Saturday of September at the Leesburg Executive Airport.

Keep Leesburg Beautiful

Every year for the entire month of April, the town hosts a community-wide beautification campaign. The campaign encourages community members, local businesses, and town groups to come together and participate in events to clean up community areas and work together on projects to continue to keep the community beautiful. This campaign is a perfect opportunity for those looking for ways to provide a community service or volunteer.

Thanksgiving festivities and Holiday Parade

Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, families come out in the cold to Ida Lee Park to participate in the Freeze your Gizzard thanksgiving 5k and mile fun run. The race is held off road in the park. Donations are accepted for the Loudoun Hunger Relief’s food pantry. Winter season is then officially kicked off on the first Friday in December with the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Town Green. The second Saturday in December each year is the date of the town Holiday Parade, which is held in the evening and proceeds down King Street into the Historic downtown.
