Averarge Costs of Cosmetic Dental Procedures

The perfect smile can boost your self-esteem and self-confidence. If you have spent years hiding your teeth and gums because of the way they look, cosmetic dentistry may be an excellent choice for you. Through cosmetic procedures, you can reclaim your smile, and your confidence.

What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is a term that is used to describe any dental procedure that improves the appearance of a patient’s teeth and/or gums. While some of these procedures are helpful and even necessary for overall oral health, other procedures are almost exclusively cosmetic. When considering the right procedures for you, it’s important to consider the cost of cosmetic dentistry.

Cost of Cosmetic Dentistry

There are a variety of different cosmetic procedures that fall under the umbrella of “cosmetic dentistry.” Below are a few different cosmetic procedures, and the costs of cosmetic dentistry procedures:

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a restorative procedure that involves the placement of a tooth-colored resin over a tooth that has been cracked, chipped or is otherwise damaged in a minor way. Dental bonding can also be used to treat discoloration. A dental bonding procedure may cost between $150 to $400 per tooth.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are dental prosthetics that are placed over healthy teeth to fix damage to the teeth. This is helpful in restoring a tooth that has sustained pretty severe damage to the crown, but still has a healthy root. A dental crown may cost a patient around $800 to $1,200 per tooth. A portion of the price may be due to the material used for the prosthetic.

Dental Veneers

A dental veneer is an excellent restorative option for a patient that has sustained damage to the crown of a tooth that is a little too much for dental bonding, but isn’t severe enough to necessitate the placement of a dental crown. This damage may be due to injury or decay. The cost of a dental veneer depends greatly on the material used, and how easy the placement of the appliance is. For composite veneers, the cost is often $250 to $1,500 per tooth. For porcelain, the cost is $500 to $2,500 per tooth. It is important to take into consideration that—while the cost of porcelain is higher upfront—the material also may last longer than composite.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is an excellent example of a cosmetic procedure that doesn’t serve much of a practical purpose. Still, teeth whitening is wonderful for patients that feel self-conscious about the color and shade of their smile. A teeth whitening can be done at-home or in the office. For at-home treatment, the cost is often around $250. In-office whitening, on the other hand, is often around $350. The advantages of in-office whitening are the fact that a professional is performing the whitening, and the possibility of the in-office whitening making your teeth up to ten times whiter in just one visit!
