Brief History
Incorporated in 1995 Broadlands is nine miles south of Leesburg and 32 miles north of Washington DC. It is also only nine miles to Dulles International Airport. The award winning development company Van Metre Homes, one of the largest privately owned homebuilders in our nation’s capital, started the 1,500 acre master planned community combining modern living and the active lifestyles of today. The area is certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, one of only 25 in the United States to achieve this distinction. Built on original wetlands in Eastern Loudoun County the community is designed to flow around Stream Valley Park. This is a 150 acre natural haven right through the center of the community featuring wooded trails, wetlands and wildlife preserves. Designed to accommodate 3,800 single family homes it includes town houses, condominiums and apartments. Broadlands became homeowner-controlled in 2009.
Broadlands today, Harmony and Balance
Currently just shy of 15,000 residents call Broadlands home and more importantly call it their community. The families of the community are very, very active as they foster their many natural and man-made amenities. You simply can walk into the 5,000 square foot Nature Center and get a glimpse of the regular schedule of events and activities scheduled to confirm involvement.
