Restorative & Cosmetic Full Or Partial Dentures

Dentures are an incredibly popular solution for adults who have lost several adult teeth or an entire set of them. At Lansdowne Dental Care, we provide our patients with a variety of solutions that incorporate the use of these restorations. If you are wondering if dentures are a good solution for you and your needs, then perhaps you should meet with a dentist to assess whether or not this restoration option is the right solution for you. In some cases, dental implants might even be a better treatment option for the specific issues you may have. In many cases, patients even use a combination of these solutions that include both dentures and dental implants to produce optimal results.

Denture Candidates And Options At Lansdowne

If you are a candidate for dental implants, our team will likely recommend a combination solution that includes both dentures and implants. Many patients will end up choosing implant supported bridges and many other variations that will give them a similar combination to treat their issues. If you generally have good oral hygiene, you will likely be a candidate for many forms of dentures.

Basic Dentures

When it comes to discovering the basic options for dentures in Lansdowne, these can include both partial and full sets. Full sets replace an entire upper or lower arch of teeth while the partial sets are created to replace a number of an incomplete set of teeth on the upper or lower jaw arch.

Standard dentures are removable. The sets are available to those patients who prefer to take out these restorations before eating, drinking, sleeping, or performing oral hygiene routines. These sets often need to be replaced every 7 to 10 years because there will be shifts in the gum line and jawbone. The changes are triggered by the additional loss of teeth and can cause your jawbone to proceed and gums to shrink.

This is why Drs. Nguyen and Frames recommend all patients to consider the hybrid versions. The use of dental implants can alleviate the bone and gum loss that leads to shrinkage and denture replacements. When a patient replaces the roots that have been extracted or missing tooth with a titanium post, he or she can eliminate the risk of bone loss as they are evenly distributing the bite pressure among all teeth. This is why we recommend dental implants whenever possible.

Restorative treatments

Our patients are pleasantly surprised when they come into our office seeking restorative dentistry solutions only to find the combination of dentures and dental implants is the perfect solution for their needs. Some patients are looking for only cosmetic Solutions while others are also looking to improve the function of their smile. Regardless of your visit, we are committed to providing you a fully restored, appealing, functional, and aesthetically stunning set of teeth and gums when your treatment is complete.

Other Options

Drs. Tracey Nguyen, Steven Frames and the team at Lansdowne Dental Care are committed to finding the ideal solution to best fit your needs. Before any treatment is started, a full assessment of your current oral health is done in order to figure out if there are certain issues that can disqualify someone from receiving dental implants. Dental implants are typically our number one option for replacing missing teeth, however, not all patients are good candidates for dental implants. Patients that are avid smokers as well as have some oral or general health issues can disqualify someone from receiving dental implants. Our office will offer you the best range of choices once we understand and assess your current oral health.

Denture Materials

Dentures are typically made by a lab from a flesh colored acrylic. The realistic looking porcelain teeth are created in the shape, size, and color to match your smile. These teeth are bonded to the acrylic. Unfortunately, these restorations do not have the same strength or stability as natural teeth. These teeth are only used to restore your appearance and enable you to speak more clearly and also to improve your diet.

Alternatives

When you speak with Drs. Tracey Nguyen, Steven Frames and the team at Lansdowne Dental Care about dentures versus implants, you will be able to understand the overall appeal of the implant supported denture options. The range of benefits exceeds with implant supported options as opposed to the traditional form of this treatment option.

They preserve the bite and support the overall health of the patient’s jaw and gums. This restoration gives you a more permanent solution and replacing missing teeth and improving your smile as well as daily activities like eating and speaking. Implant supported options are also easier to maintain. This option, however, does require the surgical implantation of the titanium posts that will act as a foundation for this denture option. The healing process for implants can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months- also known as osseointegration. This healing process is needed because the titanium post will fuse together with the jawbone to create a stronger foundation needed for this option.
